Welcome to Blog #5 from SC Inspire Tuition.
Having children of my own, I know first-hand that there are a lot (and I mean a lot!) of distractions out there that are just plainly easier and more instantly gratifying than reading a book. But recently, I’ve become more and more concerned with the TikTok generation of kids—coupled now with “brain rot”—and at some point, it just becomes a bit too much.
Whilst I’m not too far gone (or old, I hope!) to appreciate that we can’t shelter kids forever from TikTok's and brain rot—and I can even appreciate kids who use social media creatively, learning skills like editing videos—I still think there’s a big need, and huge room, for young brains to be nurtured and developed by growing their appreciation of reading.
For me, as a tutor and educator, there are few things that give me greater joy than reading a novel or chapters from a good book to a class and hearing reactions like: “Oh, I need to buy this book for myself!” or “This is actually something I think I’d read on my own.”
That little lightbulb moment is so powerful and rewarding for an educator—and gives us that glint of belief that reading for pleasure may still be a thing… and, to be honest, is needed more than ever in our society today.
With all this in mind, this brings me to the reason for our summer reading clubs at SC Inspire. We intend to provide those little lightbulb moments—and attempt to convert even the most reluctant reader into a child who can sit and enjoy a good book.
We’re also realists. We know that no matter how hard we try, some children will never be avid bookworms. But… our reading club will at least give your child the rewarding experience of starting and finishing a book, alongside one of our tutors and their group. And who knows? It might even inspire them to ask for the book we read—so they can read it again on their own.
📚 So, that brings us to our Summer Reading Clubs:

Our tutors will be carefully choosing books we think your children will love. If you’d like to join us live, watch out for dates coming soon!
✏️ Lessons twice a week
💷 Just £6 per lesson

Summer is for rest and relaxation, sure. But equally—for just two hours a week—this could be one of the best decisions you make for your children.
✨ Also, look out for a special announcement coming soon about an exciting arrangement we’ve made with an award-winning and nationally recognised author. This is a really exciting development—and we can’t wait to share it with you.
